Alabama3 shoplifting for Jesus

The hoodlums Alabama3 are back with new album Shoplifting for Jesus. The Album is a melange of styles that at times too closely touch on old Blues and jazz artists material, and given they would've been written well before Alabama 3 ever got their hands on them- It certainly looks like they are shoplifting!

Its an epic record though, with some rather fine beats and head spinning riffs no matter where and who, they borrowed/stole from.

Worth a listen anyway..

A Plastic Rose

A Plastic Rose are Epic. They are the 'A' is Awesome. Their new single 'Build from the ground up', proves this. Fresh from Supporting Snow Patrol on a handful of their arena tour dates, ‘A Plastic Rose’ are the name on a lot of people’s lips at the moment.

Definitely one of the most exciting prospects to emerge from the increasingly fertile Northern Irish music scene (Wonder Villains, General Fiasco, Snow Patrol, ASIWYFA, VerseChorusVerse.. the list is really endless here), the band have been instrumental in uniting artists and gig-goers alike, knowing that there is great strength in a united front.

On ‘Build From The Ground Up’, the band have captured the sound that made them such a favourite amongst audiences, but there’s a different edge this time; more mature, more developed, more real. This is the proof we’ve all been waiting for that behind the band’s rhetoric and ability to bring people together, there is some serious song writing skills at work.

A Plastic Rose just last week announced their debut album details and title including artwork (above): ‘Camera.Shutter.Life’. The album was produced at Manor Park by Neal Calderwood (General Fiasco, Fighting With Wire) and will be released in the summer of 2012 on DidiMau Records**. (Rel date TBA)

WE havent heard the album yet but man we can not wait and we will definitely be putting up a review (or shrine of some sort)when we do get it in. In the mean time, check out the new single here: and show some respect:

A new season for singer songwriters...

A New Season For Love is instantly a mood changing album. Heavily reliant on the time of day and the place you press play as its as mellow as they come. Easily invoking Nick Drake's soothing vocals and echoes of Elliott Smith. The songs blend effortlessly together. With just his voice, piano and guitar throughout the album, one would hardly notice as the craft at work here is of a rare quality. Not to mention his stunning and quite sublime vocal efforts, which will ultimately be the deciding factor as to who will like and who will not this record.  A bit like Marmite; It may not be everyones cup of tea as Nick Drake was not, but for those who like a strong brew; it will surely impress..

Tracks like A New Season For Love, Remember when we didn't kiss and Head on,  proves O Caoimhs remarkable songwriting craft and ability.

A New Season For Love, the single is out March 16th.
For fans of real songwriters and bands from an era that boasted Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Modest Mouse- O Caoimh is well worth checking out.

Budweiser have pulled a cool rock n' roll move that will finally target the elusive demographic of beer drinkers who love classic rock and modern hip-hop, by announcing plans to debut a new commercial during the Super Bowl that mashes up the Cult‘s ‘She Sells Sanctuary’ with the recent Flo Rida hit ‘Good Feelin’. According to the press release announcing the commercial, “The one-minute spot is a celebratory romp through several decades of great times in America that begins with the end of Prohibition in 1933.”
The Cult’s Super Bowl party comes during a flurry of band-related activity, including the announcement that they’ll be releasing a brand new album, titled ‘Choice of Weapon,’ on May 22. The band’s ninth album and first in five years, it’s being preceded by a free download for the track ‘Lucifer’.
